About PyTut

Hello, I am Petr Houstecky. I work mostly in quant finance, fintech, and backend web development.

My other projects include Macroption (options and volatility calculators) and FinTut (financial tutorials).

I started with Python around 2012. The original motivation was to manipulate big CSV files with financial data, but Python quickly expanded to other parts of my work life. I use it on a daily basis for tasks as diverse as testing investment strategies, bulk editing website content, web scraping, preparing tax returns, or resizing images.

This website starts as a side project, mainly for my own reference. I believe in learning by doing, and that is also the way I learned (and still continue to learn) Python.

It is by no means complete. Some information may be inaccurate or plain wrong. Whenever possible, I try to link to official documentation at www.python.org, which should always be the primary source to check how individual things work in Python.

If you have any feedback, questions, or suggestions, please send me a message.
